Why Gut Health
You've probably heard by now that looking after your gut health is pretty important - in fact, it's totally revolutionising what we know about health and wellness. The experts are now saying that taking care of your gut is one of the most effective ways to enhance your overall health and wellbeing. Just think of all that power and potential!
Did you know the benefits of looking after your gut health go way beyond just your digestive system too? Good gut health is actually linked to the health of so much more - including your heart, your skin and your brain. It can also help with weight management and better mental health, as well as reducing the risk of some pretty nasty illnesses, from heart disease to diabetes, and even many cancers. It really is about looking after your health and happiness from the inside out. Head over to theguthealthdoctor.com to read more about the science from our founder, Dr Megan Rossi.
Sadly, there seems to be a lot of misleading information creeping up out there. But it doesn't have to be complicated - looking after your biome is easier, and more delicious, than you think!
That's wherecomes in
Bio&Me was created to bring clarity and credibility to the world of gut health, and we're the only granola around that is claimably 'good for your gut' - we've got approval from EFSA and everything (that's the European Food Safety Authority, who thoroughly checks that health claims are based on scientific evidence).
That's why we're the UK's first dedicated, evidence-based gut health food company - and we reckon we make the best granola for your gut health.
We believe that people and microbes thrive on variety and deliciously good food. That's why we've packed our granolas with 15 different types of plant goodness. We call this our concept of Delicious Diversity. The more, the merrier!
Meet the team
Aussie-born Dr Megan is a registered dietitian, nutritionist and research fellow at King's College London with a PhD in gut health - so she sure knows a lot about the science of the gut. She’s even written a best-selling book on the subject - an ultimate guide to gut health Eat Yourself Healthy. Dr Megan co-founded Bio&Me and is the director of all our products.
She's well-known as a world leading expert on gut health and even received a nutrition award from the one and only HRH Princess Anne. Partly because of all the scientific research she does on all things nutrition. Partly because of all the patients she helps at The Gut Health Clinic. Partly because of all the inside info she shares on social media to spread the gut love. And partly because of all the deliciously gut healthy recipes she keeps coming up with.
She lives with Pistachio, her Boston terrier named after her favourite prebiotic food, and her Irish fella, who looks after people's health in other ways as a GP. And who, unsurprisingly, has remarkably good gut health.
Also known as 'the boss man', Jon is our CEO and Co-Founder. He's no Doctor or research fellow, but he knows a good idea when he sees one. So when he and Dr Megan met a few years ago, he had a gut feeling it was the start of something brilliant.
He's also a foodie. A proper one, with 25 years under his belt in the food and drink industry. When he's not working hard to make sure every box of gut-loving granola is lovingly delivered, he and his partner travel the country scouting out new restaurants. It's their thing.
Our resident storyteller, Claire looks after all things social and communications. For media and our Bio&Me inner community, Claire is your go-to for just about anything.
In a previous life, Claire worked with some big food and drink brands, but after getting pretty fed up with the questionable health claims out there, she decided to join Dr Megan's mission to help everyone look after their health with food she could trust.
When she's not busy spreading the word about good gut health on social @bioandmeuk, on our blog and through our events (or just out and about to anyone who'll listen!), she's busy studying for her Masters in Nutrition, hunting down the best brunch spots and trying hard to keep her plants alive.
